UpToDate Chooses VisualDx to Deliver Comprehensive Visual Diagnostic Support to Physicians

Partnership brings together leading clinical decision support systems.

WALTHAM, MA – ROCHESTER, NY, March 2, 2010 – UpToDate, a part of Wolters Kluwer Health, and Logical Images, developers of VisualDx visual clinical decision support system, have partnered to bring their customers a greater level of diagnostic support at the point of care. A program is expected to be rolled out to customers in the second quarter which allows institutional customers to opt in to receive results from VisualDx integrated within UpToDate’s typical search options. This integration will streamline the search process for physicians who use both products, giving them one-click access to clinical and visual diagnostic information.

In addition, UpToDate will gain access to Logical Images’ internationally recognized medical image collection, containing over 60,000 medical images, enhancing the UpToDate user’s experience by delivering visual representation of many highly searched terms. Users also will have access to the differential diagnosis builder within VisualDx, providing them with the ability to quickly develop a list of relevant diagnoses based on patient findings.

We’ve found a clear need to provide our users a greater level of visual diagnostic support.

“UpToDate continually strives to exceed our customer expectations. In announcing the development of our dermatology section, we’ve found a clear need to provide our users a greater level of visual diagnostic support,” said Denise S. Basow, MD, Editor-in-Chief for UpToDate. “The quantity and quality of images representing the variation of disease presentation within VisualDx will give our users even better validation of their clinical thinking.”

“We are very pleased to be partnering with UpToDate on this integration project. We are continually striving to provide our customers with greater accessibility to relevant clinical information at the point-of-care, and look forward to being aligned with a resource as comprehensive, widely used, and well respected as UpToDate,” said Richard Cohan, CEO of Logical Images.
