A 15-year-old male basketball player who was at his primary care doctor for a routine physical asked about black hyperpigmented macules that sometimes appeared on his heels during the season. They were usually in a linear configuration, were not painful, and might appear on just one heel or both. They went away during his last school break when he didn’t have practice, but came back immediately after his first practice.
