A 59-year-old woman went to her doctor after experiencing several episodes of very sharp facial pain that lasted for only a minute or two at a time. She noticed that it happened more than once as she was getting ready in the morning after washing her face and brushing her teeth. The pain usually struck just the right side of her face, and she could feel the pain shoot down her jaw.
Could it be a cluster headache? Toothache? Herpes zoster? Trigeminal neuralgia?
