Uncommon benign glandular neoplasm of the ceruminous glands, which are modified apocrine sweat glands associated with cerumen in the external auditory meatus. It is unusual to find other types of neoplasms in this specific location of the external auditory canal, except for ceruminous adenomas or ceruminous adenocarcinomas. Sometimes called a ceruminoma, patients may present with a mass, typically small, which may be painless and asymptomatic. Signs and symptoms, when they occur, may include dizziness, hearing loss, otalgia, otorrhea, tinnitus, vertigo, presyncope, headache, generalized weakness, and syncope. It may be associated with otitis externa and sensorineural or conductive hearing loss.

Typically treated by surgical excision. Incomplete excision may result in recurrence.
