Post-traumatic stress disorder
Trauma experienced may be from violence, physical abuse, sexual assault, witnessing a violent act, or experiencing severe pain, combat, torture, or acts of terrorism. It may result in impairment and loss of quality of life. It may be associated with traumatic brain injury and myocardial infarction.
Management includes pharmacotherapy, counseling, and behavioral therapy.
