Synopsis

This syndrome has one or more episodes of vigorous and often violent motor activity, calling out, and/or vivid dreams during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, which normally is without muscular activity. Self-injury or injury to others may occur. Males, who are usually affected, may recall dreams with aggressive content. Often called a parasomnia with undesired events occurring during sleep.
