Synopsis

A secondary form of hypertension that results from renal artery stenosis. Low blood flow to the kidneys leads to renin secretion, which eventually leads to increased production of angiotensin II. Typically asymptomatic. Consider in patients with sudden-onset or worsening hypertension that does not respond to medication.
