Synopsis

Sucking blisters are noninflammatory (bullae or vesicles) blisters occurring on an extremity (sometimes bilateral) or lips of the newborn. They are due to repetitive sucking in utero. At birth, newborns may be observed sucking in the area of the blister. Continued sucking may result in a callus.
