Tinea faciei, also known as tinea faciale or tinea facialis, is a localized dermatophyte infection of the superficial epidermis of the face. Tropical or humid climates as well as the application of topical steroids are associated with more frequent and severe cases. Fungal organisms are transmitted to humans by direct contact with an infected individual/animal or through fomites.

Eyelid involvement is uncommon but reported.

A severe antifungal-resistant tinea has emerged in South Asia from the rapid spread of a novel dermatophyte species: Trichophyton indotineae. Terbinafine-resistant T indotineae infections have been reported in Asia, Europe, Canada, and the United States, including one case in New York City with no history of recent international travel.
