Traumatic anserine folliculosis (TAF) is a rarely reported, localized skin condition caused by constant or repetitive friction or pressure on a skin area. Positions causing prolonged skin friction, such as leaning the head on the hands (a common position for studying or using electronic devices), may explain why TAF is mainly found on the chin, neck, and cheeks.

The majority of reported cases have been in children and teenagers. A history of atopy has been associated with the condition.
