Synopsis

Carotid body tumor : Cough, Hoarseness, Neck pain, Neck mass, Dysphagia, Pharyngitis, Tongue paresis
Carotid body tumors / paragangliomas are tumors that arise from cells of the neural crest, particularly in the head and neck, along the carotid body. They can involve other locations. They can present as painless masses but, depending on their location, can cause nerve root compression, pain, and cranial nerve palsies. Treatment involves surgical resection.
