Synopsis

Joint pain without inflammation caused by medication. Consider adverse reactions of medication or drug interactions as a cause of joint pain when a patient is or has been taking medications known to cause arthralgia, osteoarthritis, gout, or rheumatic disease. Common signs and symptoms include joint aches, pain, stiffness, redness, and limited range of motion, not usually accompanied by inflammation.

Weigh benefits and risks of medication while considering replacement medication. Dosage adjustment or discontinuation of causative medication may provide relief in time. Medication should be carefully monitored for adverse reactions to avoid further symptoms, particularly to avoid irreversible harm.
