Synopsis
A rare self-limited disorder of unknown cause characterized by multiple pustules on a red base with crusting on the scalp and brow. Sometimes the face, neck, trunk, and extremities are involved. Pustules are sterile. Patients may have associated leukocytosis and eosinophilia. Some question whether it is merely an infantile variant of adult eosinophilic pustular folliculitis (Ofuji disease), but the course and clinical presentation differs. About 40 cases have been reported. All cases reported began in infants younger than 1 year, but lesions occurred for 3 months to 5 years before resolving.
