Hyperkeratosis lenticularis perstans
Alerts and Notices
Synopsis

Incidence and prevalence of HLP are difficult to assess given the limited number of cases reported in the literature, which may in part be due to its asymptomatic nature. Whether the condition is a disorder of keratinization or primarily inflammatory, and whether it is familial or sporadic, is still up for debate. Additionally, there is no consensus in regard to a particular trigger (predisposing medical condition or exposure) that has been consistently associated with the condition, but association with spirochetal infection, various malignancies, and endocrine disorders have been reported in isolated cases.
