Synopsis

A rare benign form of digital fibromatosis with noninflammatory swelling around the proximal interphalangeal joints of digits II–IV and sometimes the thumb. Usually symmetric and bilateral but sometimes unilateral. X-ray investigation with no bony or articular changes. May result from repetitive mechanical stimulation. Rarely familial.
