Vocal cord paralysis
Noninvasive treatment includes therapy for voice, speech, and swallowing.
Surgical intervention utilizes several types of medialization: injection laryngoplasty (silicone implants), thyroplasty, and reinnervation of the recurrent laryngeal nerve. Tracheotomy, laser arytenoidectomy, cordotomy, and lateralization of the vocal fold may provide relief from life-threatening complications and improve vocal quality.
