Synopsis

Lichen simplex chronicus (LSC) is manifested by lichenification of the skin associated with constant itching or rubbing. LSC can be associated with atopic dermatitis. Often, the itching is of an unknown cause. Individual thickened and persistent papules may be observed (prurigo nodularis). Both LSC and prurigo nodularis are more commonly seen in adults than in children.
