Is this girl’s new pet to blame for her rash? Let’s diagnose.

A 5-year-old girl was brought to the doctor by her mother for a rash that had developed over the past week. The patient’s mother mentioned that her daughter is frequently scratching the affected areas. Further questioning revealed that the family had recently adopted a stray dog. On examination, annular scaly plaques were seen on the face, neck, chest, and arm.

The patient is healthy and has no history of dermatological disease. She was currently not on any medication.
