MLA 17: Keeping our Lead Medical Research Librarian Busy

VisualDx is proud to support MLA ’17 where we will be exhibiting at booth 522 and hosting a Sunrise Seminar.  In addition, two of our staff medical librarians will head to Seattle to take part. Patricia Gogniat, VisualDx’s lead medical research librarian, says this conference will be her busiest yet! She writes about her plans and what she is looking forward to experiencing.

Greetings!

The Annual MLA meeting is fast-approaching and with so many wonderful sessions offered to attendees, it’s always a challenge to fit everything in – attending every session that interests me, seeing all of the posters, visiting with friends and colleagues, and seeing as much as Seattle as possible in between. MLA ’17 will be my busiest conference yet as I’ll be presenting during two sessions, blogging about section activity as an official MLA blogger, and as incoming Chair of the Medical Informatics Sections (MIS), attending the Leaders’ Recognition Reception and helping to run the MIS business meeting.

One of the sessions I’m involved with is a book discussion about the recent Medical Library Association publication on data management for medical librarians. On Sunday May 30th at 3pm PST in room 613, Michelle Bass from the Research Section and myself will be facilitating this discussion. I’m really looking forward to the interactive format of this session and having a chance to talk with other librarians working in the data management field.

The other session I’m involved with is the VisualDx Sunrise Seminar, taking place bright and early at 7am PST on Memorial Day in room 612. Focused on “The Value of Visualization” this presentation will provide an overview of our visual diagnostic tool and introduce the problem of diagnostic error and how VisualDx can help improve patient care. If you’re interested in joining the VisualDx team for breakfast and listening to this presentation, pre-register here: www.visualdx.com/mla.

Hope to see you all at MLA!
