Kaylahn Jones

Kaylahn Jones is a dedicated fourth-year medical student at Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine, originally from Madison, Wisconsin. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Hampton University before completing a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences at Kansas City University. Her main clinical interests in dermatology include psychosocial dermatology, skin of color, and hair loss. Kaylahn’s passion for dermatology stems from her belief that it is one of the few specialties that sits at the intersection of culture, identity, and science. To her, dermatologic disease is rarely “just skin deep”; it can impact a patient’s confidence, quality of life, and sense of self.

Kaylahn is passionate about advocacy, mentorship, and increasing equal representation in medicine. She previously served as Class Vice President and Vice President of her school’s Dermatology Club, partnered with Anatomy Academy to teach sun safety to elementary school students in Kansas City, and served as the Region II Political Advocacy Chair for the Student National Medical Association. Her service extends globally through medical mission trips to Panama, the Dominican Republic, and Vietnam, and locally through her school’s student-run clinic. Kaylahn’s professional memberships include the Student National Medical Association and Gold Humanism Honor Society. She also currently serves as National Social Media Co-Chair for both Sk(In Depth) Derm Journal and the Dermatology Interest Group Association. Outside of medicine, she enjoys DJing and traveling. After serving as a VisualDx brand ambassador, she looks forward to transitioning into her new role on the VisualDx Student Advisory Board.
