Sydney Barlow

Sydney Barlow is a Pittsburgh native and rising third year medical student at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Biology from Carnegie Mellon University. After graduation, she worked at the National Institutes of Health, where she conducted research in epidemiology and public health before beginning medical school.

Sydney is passionate about hidradenitis suppurativa research and has published in Archives of Dermatological Research. She is a 2025 Nth Dimensions Dermatology Scholar and presented her research at the National Medical Association Annual Convention and Scientific Assembly. She is also an active member of the University of Pittsburgh Dermatology Interest Group and a researcher in the Choudhary Lab. Through her clinical, research, and mentorship experiences, she is committed to advancing dermatologic care.

Sydney looks forward to serving on the VisualDx Student Advisory Board and aspires to match into a dermatology residency, with the long-term goal of completing a fellowship in dermatopathology. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, dancing, and trying new fitness classes.
