Teenager Has Knee Pain, Swelling – Let’s Diagnose

A 16-year-old boy visited his doctor with a complaint of right knee pain for more than a month. He reported no recent falls or injuries. The pain was worse during and after soccer practice. He had been playing soccer since the age of 5 and had never experienced this kind of pain before. His knee was locking up and he noticed a smaller range of motion than was typical. He often noticed swelling around his knee after practice and tenderness, especially anteromedially. In the last week or so he noticed his gait had changed and his coach pulled him out of a game because he was having trouble bearing weight on his right leg.

Is it osteochondritis dissecans of the knee, tibial plateau fracture, osteoarthritis of the knee, or a torn meniscus?
