Doctor Consults VisualDx for Rash Differential, Patient Receives Two Diagnoses

Dr. Dan S, an ED doctor at Indiana University, writes about a time he consulted VisualDx for a rash differential for his patient that lead to more than one diagnosis.

“We had a young patient who came in with a strange rash. Using VisualDX, we put in the patient’s demographics and associated symptoms. This allowed us to broaden our differential diagnosis to include Kaposi sarcoma, a sign of advanced HIV/AIDS. The patient was unaware he was HIV positive and we were able to quickly get him started on treatment.”
