Brianna M., a PA student at University of Texas Southwestern, wowed her attending when she used VisualDx to workup a patient with a tender rash who was also wheezing and short of breath.
“56 y/o patient with no significant PMH presented with a 2 month history of SOB with intermittent wheezing. He complained of a red, tender rash that did not respond to OTC steroid cream that had appeared over the last two weeks and had begun to spread to his trunk. Patient denied cardiac symptoms, edema, or visual changes. I used the VisualDx app when my attending asked me to come up with a differential and suggested sarcoidosis as a “Zebra.” The workup turned out to be sarcoidosis!”
