Urgent Care NP Correctly Diagnoses Rash with VisualDx Help

Alma M., an NP with the Veterans’ Health Administration, shares her story about using VisualDx.

“I was assisting with the urgent walk in clinic. I had a case last year of a young 27 year old Caucasian male presenting with an asymptomatic rash on the palm of one hand & forearm. A review of his chart was remarkable for a recently diagnosed ischemic stroke approximately two weeks earlier. He was started on Plavix & atorvastatin at the time of diagnosis. With the help of VisualDx, I was able to identify the target lesions associated with a drug-related erythema multiforme hypersensitivity rxn. With this diagnosis we were able to properly treat the patient for resolution and still reduce his risk of a subsequent stroke.”
