Allison King is a seasoned VisualDx user and nurse practitioner at Mid-South Dermatology in Bartlett, Tennessee. She was an early beta tester for the new version of VisualDx and shared how the updates are enhancing her clinical workflow and decision-making in her daily practice.
As a beta tester, King highlighted the tools she relies on most, including the patient handouts, compare view, and the differential builder, and how they support faster, more confident clinical decision-making in practice.
Supporting faster clinical decision-making
We asked Allison King how VisualDx fits into her day-to-day workflow in practice. She shared that the new experience makes it more effective to move from observation to diagnosis to mapping out a treatment plan during a patient visit.
Q: How does VisualDx support your personal clinical decision making? How has it changed your workflow?
A: “I feel like the new version just feels even more organized…it’s organized in a way that providers think…it’s organized by sort of the history first, and then what to look for on the skin, then sort of the other differentials to consider, and the plan. So, it is a really efficient organization for kind of our typical workflow and our typical thought patterns day-to-day in clinic.”

Streamlining side-by-side comparison in Compare View
Allison King highlighted how the updated compare view feature helps her evaluate conditions more efficiently in real time. Designed to match the fast-paced clinical environment, it also presents information in a way that supports clearer patient education.
Q: How does the side-by-side compare view help you think through and differentiate diagnoses during patient care?
A: “I love the way the new version organizes the compare view. I love that I can still see pictures of the diagnosis, and then I can see all the information for the different diagnoses side by side. It is much more user-friendly and helps to quickly, compare and analyze and sort of work through, possible diagnosis for the patient.”

Enhancing patient understanding and communication
Allison King frequently relies on patient handouts to help educate her patients, noting that updates have made them easier to access and use during visits. She values their availability in both English and Spanish and has seen how reviewing them in real time and sending them home helps patients feel more informed and confident in their care.
Q: How has VisualDx helped you with patient education?
A: “I use VisualDx frequently for patient education. I love the patient education handouts, and I especially appreciate that they come in Spanish as well. I also use VisualDx for building a list of differential diagnosis and comparing those diagnoses.”
