Yes. VisualDx AI Image Analysis is designed to support HIPAA compliance.

  • No patient-identifiable information is collected
  • Images are not stored or transmitted
  • No data is linked to individual patients

VisualDx uses a lesion recognition model tool to analyze uploaded skin images.

  • The model compares the image against ~80 lesion types
  • Each lesion type receives a confidence score
  • The top 3 matches are shown to the user
  • The clinician selects the best match
  • The selected lesion is then added to the diagnostic workup
  • The user then answers follow-up questions to refine the differential diagnosis.

Important: The image is deleted immediately after analysis.

No, it is an add-on product that works in conjunction with a VisualDx license. It cannot be purchased as a standalone product.

To enable AI Image Analysis, you or your organization must have an active VisualDx subscription.

Visit our pricing page or contact sales to explore subscription and add-on options.

Images and Image Use

Use of VisualDx images is subject to the terms of your VisualDx license. To determine the scope of your rights for any usage outside of VisualDx, please refer to our image and content use policy.

At the core of the VisualDx family of products is our world-class medical image collection, which has been developed through 27 years of thoughtful, systematic collecting and curation. We have established relationships with an international community of physician experts and developed a secure, efficient means for uploading and centralizing digital cases from around the world.

Image contributors are vetted based on sample image/case review, professional credentials, and medical specialty. With quality and accuracy being foundational principles of a collection acquisition strategy, this step is critical to ensuring the highest level of clinical integrity within our products.

Participating image contributors are regarded as valued partners in this process, as they are required to provide accurate clinical case data and ensure that any potentially identifiable images have informed patient consent.

If you have questions about the image collection or are interested in becoming an image contributor, contact our Senior Director of Visual Content.
