Behind every VisualDx content release is the work of our editorial, imaging, and medical librarian teams, continuously reviewing, updating, and expanding our clinical content to keep it current. Our October release adds 12 new diagnoses, 273 new images, and 7 new medical illustrations, along with updated clinical guidance, public health information, therapies, and patient education materials.
Here is what we focused on:
- Patient-Friendly Image Experience: Images across 289 diagnoses were reviewed and assessed for sensitivity ratings, supporting the Patient Friendly option that can hide potentially sensitive imagery when sharing information with patients.
- Expanded Rare and Common Disease Coverage: New imagery strengthens coverage across the spectrum, from rare diseases such as confluent and reticulated papillomatosis and Cowden disease to common conditions including acne vulgaris, lichen planus, and pediatric molluscum contagiosum.
- Cellulitis by Body Location: 7 new body-location-specific cellulitis diagnoses and 94 images were added to provide more focused differentials for unilateral inflammation and erythema.
- Keeping Pace with Public Health Alerts: Updated outbreak and surveillance information for measles, dengue fever, Ebola, mpox, influenza, Powassan virus, and New World screwworm. Malaria content was also updated to include the first WHO-prequalified treatment for newborns and infants.
- New Therapies and Clinical Guidance: Added newly approved treatment information and refreshed guidance across conditions including scabies, CA-MRSA skin and soft tissue infections, hospital-acquired pneumonia, leishmaniasis, and more. Discontinued products and resolved drug shortages were also removed.
