Pediatrician Solves Mystery “Dirt” Rash Thanks to VisualDx

Levon U., a pediatrician at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, shares his story that made him a big believer in VisualDx, making a child’s rash disappear in front of the patient’s family.

“I was asked by a colleague in a busy urgent care department to see a rash that they had never seen before. It was a brown rash that looked the patient had been rubbed with dirt, but the patient’s parent said it would never wash off and had been there for months. I used VisualDx to build a differential diagnosis, and came up with a diagnosis of terra firma-forme dermatosis, something I had never even heard of before in my pediatric training. I saw the diagnostic pearl about trying to rub the rash with alcohol, so I grabbed an alcohol swab and entered the room. The rash immediately started to come off and the parents were so happy. It was a great diagnosis and made me a big believer in VisualDx.”
